A Panerai Watch with A Prada Strap? Now That’s The Pinnacle of Italian Luxury

What better way to celebrate Italian craftsmanship than with the combination of two renowned names in the world of luxury? During Watches & Wonders in Shanghai, Officine Panerai released a new collaboration timepiece with the luxury fashion house – Prada – to offer a Luminor Due watch paired with Prada’s Re-Nylon strap.

For aficionados of luxury fashion, Re-Nylon should sound familiar as it represents Prada’s take on sustainable fabrics. The straps are crafted from ECONYL®, which is a recycled nylon made from pre- and post-consumer materials such as fishing nets, discarded nylon, carpets and industrial waste. Expertly crafting the material into gorgeous straps for the Luminor Due, Prada has chosen four hues – iron grey, navy blue, alabaster pink and Fiordaliso light grey – to fit the 42mm and 38mm versions of the watch.

Hands down, our pick is the PAM01426, which offers a decidedly unique combination, pairing a stainless-steel case with a white matte dial and the sublime Fiordaliso light grey Re- Nylon strap. Okay, we understand that for men, Panerai watches should sit slightly larger on the wrist but hear us out, even though the case for this particular reference is 38mm, with the crown protection device protruding out, it still maintains its presence on the wrist. And that colour combination is just fantastic!

If you are still not convinced, however, there are versions of this watch with the classic 42mm case size, offering both a sunburst white or blue dial, paired with a grey or navy-blue Re- Nylon strap accordingly. One difference to note however is that for the 42mm versions of the collection, the straps will come with an adjustable polished-steel buckle while the 38mm variants will come with the traditional pin buckle system. Each of the straps offers Panerai’s PAM Click release system which is paramount considering that the strap is just as celebrated as the watch case and buyers would probably want to get all colour options and mix and match them as desired.

All four references of the Panerai Luminor Due Prada Re- Nylon collection come with Panerai’s signature sandwich dial and the small seconds counter at the 9 o’clock position. The watches are all powered by the P.900 calibre, an automatic movement that will offer an Incabloc® anti-shock device, 28,000 bph and a long 3-day power reserve. These watches are already available at the Panerai boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Top 3 Trends of Milan Men’s Spring Summer 2023

Utilitarianism has reemerged in Italy’s style capital during Milan Men’s Spring Summer 2023. The collections beckoned nostalgia with denim and lightweight fabrics that are making a comeback when the practical trend was last seen on the runways of Spring Summer 2018. The refreshed silhouettes are now reemerging on the runways showcasing the utilitarian traits of detailing, practicality and elevated styling.

Lightweight, Laidback & Relaxed

Typical of the leading houses like Fendi, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, a compiled boldness became apparent on the runways. It often came through with alluring lightweight materials, where sheer fabrics acted as a signature. The Spring Summer 2023 update was all about sensible juxtaposition as seen on Dolce & Gabbana incorporating lightweight see-through materials with wide-fit distressed denim jeans. Some looks were a perfectly tailored tuxedo worn over ripped denim, while others paired a sensual sheer black lace shirt with oversized double-breasted jackets. Creative freedom, newness and daring experimentation were well encompassed in this collection. Most of the Dolce & Gabbana’s looks were familiar silhouettes from their past seasons, which presented like an updated déjà vu.

Silvia Venturini Fendi created earthy and well-balanced looks for a planet-conscious generation that reflects shades ranging from soft cambric fabric to hearty brick colours, it merges into a new motif created from weather mapping images of the weather patterns. Fendi’s collection evidently brought forth simplicity and elevation on a higher level of wearability. The denim frays at the hem of the jeans together with the embroidery accents of the bags recall an edgy outlook. “It’s about a balance of decoration and simplicity,” Venturini Fendi shared. “An ageless sense of freedom to play, as we rediscover the luxury of free time.”

While imagining from previous seasons, Prada was challenging dressing norms, looking to prime men with the idea of tailored short shorts paired with knitted tops or leather jackets. It was apparent this time with the season to create a laidback Spring Summer look.

Kean and Veronica of the family-managed Italian fashion house, Etro, have also energised the short shorts for their collection, to make them suitable for next year’s humid weather when lighter garments will propel the season forward. Mesh textures were adorned to reveal bare skin while shorts expose nude legs. Tod’s were also seen in tailored shorts well above the knees, with blazers and utility jackets paired for the top in this Spring Summer 2023 outing. The versatile shorts could be worn next summer without worrying about heat waves ruining the look.

Apart from Etro, the cultivated mid-western look was also emphasised as seen in Dolce & Gabbana, where denim was the material in focus. The influence of Williams’s sleek industrial style and the tactical chic of Alyx evolved a little further at Milan Men’s Summer Spring 2023, where he blended denim with utilitarian outfits. There were signature details such as the origami pockets that are distinctive in Alyx’s tailoring, conveyed in denim. Prada decided to bring equilibrium between comfort pieces in contrast with utility and fitting jackets, proving how denim is versatile for everyday styling.

As for JW Anderson, the designer took a different approach. He wanted to form a collection that pushed perceptions of modern clothing. Known for his eccentric designs, Anderson’s collection embodied witty wearable assemblages such as broken skateboards, compact disc prints, barcodes and holes on shirts that mimic cheese, adding cheekiness to the collection. The tongue-in-cheek designs were paired with heavily distressed denim that offers an elevated look. However, the mix and match between denim and experimental tops gave a fresh look for the Spring Summer 2023 season and definitely head-tuners.

Exaggerated Casualness

Most labels featured loose and baggy pants on their runway. The drapes flawlessly shape light and relaxed outlooks. The light material of cotton twill was employed to construct the garments of Ermenegildo Zegna and Etro’s Spring Summer 2023. This meant it could be worn both dressed up in formal or dressed down in casual. The embodiment of the exaggerated fit for Versace showcases how the wide tailoring flair of the pants matched with vibrant jackets perfect for any show-stopping moment.

The comeback of utilitarianism has made it evident that the world is ready to head out in comfort and style, and Milan Men’s Spring Summer 2023 has brought some nostalgia but also newness to the runways.

Prada Announces All-New Brand Ambassadors, Irene Bae and Chanyeol Park

When it comes to luxury fashion, few idols embody the allure of Prada as well as Red Velvet’s Irene and EXO’s Chanyeol have. Photographed in the brand’s iconic Fall/Winter and Autumn/Winter 2020 collections, the duo now star in a special film shoot, where they are given the opportunity to interpret Prada’s surreal glamour through their own identities.

Prada Announces All-New Brand Ambassadors, Irene Bae and Chanyeol Park

Irene For Prada

Despite being the Maison’s all-new brand ambassadors, this appointment does not mark the duo’s first run-in with the luxurious fashion house. In fact, both idols have celebrated different milestones with the brand over time.

Irene For Prada

With a reputation for attracting deals with some of the world’s most renowned brands, such as Chamisul, Chanel and Clinique, fans of Red Velvet and Irene have long mused over plausible collaborations with Prada from as early as 2018. Gracing the red carpets of Prada’s Dreamscape pop-up store in December 2019, Irene, who made her first-ever Paris Fashion Week debut in March 2019, attended a show by Prada’s subsidiary brand, Miu Miu, where she starred in an adorable “Girl in Miu Miu” campaign. Often seen decked out in Prada on Instagram, Irene’s collaboration with the brand is hardly a stretch of the imagination.

Chanyeol For Prada

Regarded her equally experienced counterpart, Chanyeol, who has over the years, starred in campaigns and worked in close collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, attended Prada’s Escape pop-up store opening in Seoul last year, whilst flying out to Singapore to celebrate the launch of Prada’s Spring/Summer 2019 menswear collection.

Chanyeol For Prada

Representing the inherent strength of women and the authority of femininity, through blending traditional fabrics with new recycled materials, this announcement, though exciting, leaves much room for speculation, on whether or not Irene and Chanyeol will be working with the brand internationally as well as domestically, or if fans can anticipate further pictorials of their favourite idols in future.

The Exclusive Prada for Adidas Collaboration is Back

It all started in 2019 with the Italian Maison’s first co-branding project dubbed ‘Prada for Adidas’ – an unexpected collaboration between two major conglomerates which featured one bowling bag and a sneaker. Making subtle changes to Adidas’ long-standing Superstar sneaker, the product showcased a full-grain leather upper body with the Prada logotype printed on its side. Sold as a unisex set for an estimated $4,840, the Prada for Adidas release was limited to a mere 700 sets available worldwide, with each piece made in Italy.

Upping the ante, the collaboration will now showcase a variety of three new sneaker designs, including monochrome black, white with black, and chrome silver with white. These unisex shoes with dual logos, are expected to launch on September 8th, through select wholesalers, Prada boutiques and Adidas flagship stores worldwide.

Meet Prada’s new family of Mysterious Creatures

Prada is no stranger to the creation of miniature, usually quirky character keychains. This November, the Maison will be introducing its new Pradamalia collectibles. This time, a new family of creatures that resembles humans’ best companions – animals.

Named the portmanteau of “Prada” and “Animalia”, Pradamalia is a collection of jewellery, small leather goods and (of course) accessories imprinted with seven animal-like creatures. The new series is made in part biological and technological, united by the Prada DNA. Each creature features prominent Prada codes including metal studs, ombre tones, polished wood, printed lips, and the iconic Saffiano leather, finished with the triangular Prada heart.

The seven Pradamalia creatures, each an organic depiction of a real-life animal, exhibits its own character and quirks that make them more a companion than simply an accessory. They are even christened with their own names. Spot that resembles a cat, Scuba the octopus, Socks – a man’s best friend, a pair of monkeys Otto and Toto, and the jellyfish-looking Fiddle and Disco to complete the set.

Each charm is then packaged with extensive information of its unique anatomy, qualities, and behaviours, plus a note on their origins. As it is being unwrapped, one gets to discover the story of their new Pradamalia friend. As an extension to the storytelling concept, a segmented campaign featuring animated Pradamalia in Prada Labs and, post-escape, in the world, will launch in November 2018.

Featuring a wide range of products from the tricks accessories and jewels to leather items for women and men, Pradamalia collection is an adorable venture made in collaborative measure with 2×4 New York, the design company that was responsible for Prada’s comic-inspired spring/summer 2018 womenswear runway set.

The collection will be hitting the Prada stores as well as its official website starting November 2018.
