Rimowa releases LeBron James’ ‘Never Still’ film

A follow-up to Kim Jones’ video, Rimowa releases its second campaign video of ‘Never Still’ for this year starring basketball legend LeBron James.

Directed by Philippe Tempelman, LeBron James’ film offers us a peek inside his personal life with an emotional approach. “It’s time to start thinking about retirement,” a voiceover narrates. “How many years does LeBron have left?” another voiceover says. The video shows James in deep contemplation as he looks back at his arduous journey to become who he is today. “If you never leave, you never learn… The road will build you up… (and) It will knock you back down…” as he conveys in the shorts.

He also shows a gentle side of himself where he expresses his love for his child over a phone conversation. He devotes himself in humanitarian works as well, particularly in building the groundbreaking Akron public school for underprivileged youth. At the end of the video, he concludes that he will continue to pursue his dreams.

Rimowa’s first Japanese flagship store

Rimowa has just celebrated the opening of its first ever Japan flagship store, located at the luxury shopping district Ginza 7-Chrome and this new space is one of the few Rimowa space worldwide that offers personalisation service for its patrons.

And for the grand opening, Rimowa hosted an exclusive party that saw a few collaborations including a personalisation service featuring Japanese luxury streetwear label Ambush.

 

 

To highlight the exclusive in-store personalisation service, Rimowa worked with Ambush to create a special fluorescent orange-coloured luggage handle and luggage tag that is exclusively available at the Ginza store.

The Ambush accessories is created as part of the Rimowa personalisation range for the Rimowa Classic Range where patrons can choose their preferred colours for the handle, wheels and tags.

Rimowa also invited Japanese calligrapher MAMI, who is known for her dynamic works that fuse traditional Japanese calligraphy with contemporary culture to work on a special installation within the space, along with a special appearance of celebrated Japanese artist Takashi Murakami who came with a Rimowa suitcase filled with his iconic smiling flowers plush and a miniature of himself.

Rimowa collaborates with Off-White for transparent luggage

Without a doubt, Virgil Abloh and his label Off-White are a cult now and anything has to do with him is always coveted including the coming Rimowa X Off-White collaboration.

In celebration of its 120th anniversary, luxury travel brand Rimowa and streetwear label Off-White have come together for a limited edition luggage collection, featuring a transparent design!

Made with transparent polycarbonate, the Rimowa x Off-White carry-on luggage juxtaposes its clear design with black details such as accented black handles, wheels, labelling on the locks and telescopic handle.

It is a playful take to highlight the privacy culture of surveillance and anonymity in today’s world.

This case has replaced the interior lining with their own design of Flex-Divider system and customised bags to keep things in neat and modest order.

It also enhanced with Rimowa’s silent Multiwheel system, TSA combination locks, an exclusive transparent amenity kit for an efficient performance and even an additional set of wheels in Off-White orange that you can swap out with.

On the collaboration, Virgil Abloh says, “This collaboration was an experimentation where we studied travelling and one’s emotional connection to their own “personal belongings”. This project had been in the works for a while and now the accumulation of various ideas from over a long period of time will be released to the world.”
